Rhinoplasty Surgery Tips
Many people get rhinoplasty surgery to look more appealing, while others get the surgery for health reasons. Whatever the reason, anyone getting rhinoplasty should conduct the proper research before undergoing the procedure.

Below are a list of tips that my rhinoplasty surgeon in San Antonio shared with me and I hope that it helps you:

1. The Perfect Nose Does Not Exist
Many people consider undergoing rhinoplasty in order to get what they consider the "perfect nose." While they may assure you that you will have a improved nose, the best nose doctors cannot guarantee that you will ever have a perfect nose.

2. You May Look Weird After the First Few Days
The first few days following surgery can be rough. You should anticipate that you will have a splint over your nose, packing in your nostrils, and tape around your nose to help with drainage.

3. You Cannot Wear Glasses For A Month
In order to allow the bridge of your nasal to heal you should not wear glasses, including sunglasses, for up to a month following rhinoplasty surgery.

4. You May Not Feel Any Pain
If you follow your doctor's orders and take your pain medicine regularly, it is possible that you may not feel any pain following rhinoplasty. However, you will most likely feel lightheaded and exhausted.

5. Breathing May Be Difficult
Following surgery, you may find difficulty breathing. This nasal congestion is often due to swelling. Once nasal swelling goes down, you should not experience further difficulties with breathing.

6. Your Voice May Sound Different
Due to the swelling and nasal congestion, your voice may have a nasal tone. It may take months before your voice returns to normal.

7. Your Rhinoplasty May Not Be Obvious
Although your nose may seem noticeably different to you, many people will be too concerned with their own personal appearances to detect a difference in your nasal features.

8. There Are Limits to What Your Plastic Surgeon Can Do
While you may expect a huge transformation, there are limits to what your plastic surgeon can do for you. Although there is nothing wrong with providing your surgeon with pictures of what you would like your nose to look like, you must keep in mind that your surgeon will have to work with the framework of your face, not that of someone else's.

9. You May Be Disappointed With the Final Outcome
It is not uncommon for patients to experience disappointment after rhinoplasty. You may regret your decision and even miss your "old nose" at times. It will take time to adjust to your new look.

With that being said, I recommend watching this video of a patient who shares her first hand experience with completing nose surgery one year later.
